ISEO – the Future Focus of the World Sustainable Energy Coalition WSEC

The Board of CMDC-WSEC confirms that the main purpose of the WSEC Division of the World Circle of the Consensus is now to support the Preparatory Commission of the International Sustainable Energy Organization ISEO, which was initiated by some of its members and by the Motion of Parliamentarian Roland Wiederkehr of the Swiss National Council, signed by 41 Deputies of the four main Swiss political parties.

ISEO is considered as the most suitable world-wide mechanism for the urgently required transition to clean, sustainable energy. ISEO is networking with relevant UN Agencies, NGOs and Academia to accelerate this transition from hazardous energy systems, thus protecting the natural climatic balance from Greenhouse gas emissions, the biospheres, waters with their ice formations, preventing oil wars with their innocent victims and conserving the precious, finite mineral resources for better purposes than for polluting combustion. ISEO was first announced in an open forum at the World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002 after UN consultations.

The ultimate goal of ISEO is to become an organization with full UN status in co-operation with relevant NGOs and Academia. ISEO might finally replace WSEC, which was founded at the first World Clean Energy Conference in 1991 in Geneva, organized by CMDC, with several hundred delegates from Governments, UN Agencies, NGOs and Academia from five Continents, to phrase out the Global Energy Charter for Sustainable Development, in order to convey it to the United Nations Summit on Environment and Development (UNCEC) in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992.

The website www.uniseo.org with the new protected logo contains all information about the ISEO mandate, objectives, statute, coordinators and organization with highlights about the key technical, financial, legal, educational and energy policy issues, together with application forms for membership and sponsoring.

The Preparatory Commission of ISEO, according to its statute, consists of delegates from the interested Nations, NGOs, Academia and the technical coordinators, based on the rules of the United Nations, International Associations and the Swiss Code of Obligations, with formal liaisons to other international organizations like ISO, IAHE, ISES, COGEN, IHA, EWEA, EUROSOLAR, Green Cross, IUCN, WWF, WMO, ECE, FAO, UNESCO, UNEP, WHO, WTO etc.

Gustav R. Grob, was assigned as first Executive Secretary of ISEO until its inaugural plenary assembly, where formal Board Members will be elected according to the ISEO statute, with a budget, final seat and further organizational provisions. The ECOSOC consultative status of CMDC-WSEC will pave the way to a formalized status of ISEO in its own constitutional right.
