Since a world sustainable energy strategy was virtually killed by reactionary special interest groups on the way from Rio and Kyoto to the Johannesburg Summit only a resolute step forward can save the biosphere and climate on Earth and save some of the remaining mineral resources for better purposes than the mad combustion: ISEO, the International Sustainable Energy Organization.
This Newsletter explains how ISEO can get effectively operational on a fast track immediately after the Johannesburg Summit despite the expected fierce opposition by the polluters and oil warlords.
**********************************************************************************************************************************************************
ISEO is ready to start with progressive governments, UN Agencies and NGOsThe Trust Fund account, Statutes, Operational Principles, Organization Chart, Network Links and the Preparatory Commission are all set with the website www.uniseo.org to get supported by farsighted Governments, relevant UN bodies and Non-Governmental Organizations and to start the important work of ISEO immediately after ratification of ISEO by the next UN General Assembly. The Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission, Gustav R. Grob, will coordinate the start-up work from Geneva, Switzerland.
At
the World Renewable Energy Forum in June in Berlin Gustav Grob pointed out
again that planet Earth cannot endure more delays of the transition to the
Clean, Sustainable Energy Age and blamed the reactionary forces in the preparatory
process for the World Summit on Sustainable Development of malicious cooperation
with officers of DESA-CSD for censorship of serious sustainable energy (SE)
proposals since Rio throughout all Preparatory Commission meetings till
Bali.
The
reactionary business-as-usual energy lobbies are still denying the fact
that the fossil fuel reserves are declining rapidly and that global warming,
biosphere deterioration, health problems from pollution and foreign exchange
unbalances must be halted long before thetotal depletion of the mineral
resources, as stressed again by Grob in Bali and Berlin. "We must mobilize
all positive forces for the advancement of a rapid transition to sustainable
energy, which includes not only at least a 5 % average annual increase of
renewable energy, but also much more efficient energy systems and a more
responsible use of energy on the demand side.
ISEO is urgently needed for the coordination of know-how centers of excellence, assistance to other UN bodies for the SE promotion and implementation, fostering of faster SE financing, world-wide cross-fertilization of energy efficiency programs from infants to adults, introduction of total costing to make polluters accountable for the external energy cost, international legislation to facilitate clean, sustainable energy security, incentive programs for the official and private sectors, technology exchange South-South and North-South, job creation through the more labor-intensive SE systems, avoidance of migrations due to energy source restructuring, training programs etc.
Governments, UN Agencies and NGOs are invited to send enclosed
application form as soon as possible to the Preparatory Commission of ISEO
in Geneva to be transmitted to the Secretary General of the United Nations
for the establishment of ISEO.
